Christie rips Rubio: A reliable conservative wouldn’t have backed amnesty and
The new commercial will replace an ad the PAC had run contrasting Kasich with Christie, Rubio, Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.
A mostly jovial Trump entertained a full house in a New Hampshire high school gym for about an hour, poking fun not only at political correctness, but the press and potential general election rival, Hillary Clinton.
The ad was packed with photos of Christie and Obama from the president’s 2012 visit to New Jersey in the wake of Hurricane Sandy – a late election moment of comity between the two that many in the conservative blogosphere refuse to let Christie live down.
Less than a month from the first presidential primary contest, Florida Sen. “Why? Christie’s record. He instituted an Internet sales tax, supported Common Core and liberal energy policies”.
“Metaphorically, of course”, Ingraham said. Marco Rubio’s own debate-prep spoof video against him, including it in an attack ad casting Rubio as unprepared for the presidency.
Christie has started responding aggressively to the attacks, playing the tough-guy role he was supposed to step into but which was usurped by Trump.
Moreover, candidates are reluctant to antagonize Trump’s large group of supporters, instead hoping another candidate goes after him, Scala said.
No one likes having to defend his record from attacks, but it beats being ignored.
Christie is positioned for a bounce in popularity in Iowa as signs grow that Republicans here are giving him a fresh look.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s campaign plays up the threat of ISIS in a new ad airing in New Hampshire.
Previously the organization told donors in an internal email that Rubio, Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, and Ben Carson are the only candidates with a chance of becoming the Republican nominee. So why is he training his fire at Christie and not front-runner Trump or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who are leading national polls.
In New Hampshire the negative ads so far haven’t reached a scathing temperature, Scala said. “The politicians can pretend it’s something else, but Donald Trump calls it radical Islamic terrorism”, a narrator says.
Christie is competing in the so-called establishment lane against Rubio, Jeb Bush and John Kasich to emerge as an alternative to Trump and Cruz.
“And right now”, Christie said, “they are very good”.
“Oh, I’m supposed to reprimand the man. Who was the man that said that? They cannibalize one another”.
“I’m just better qualified, I’m better tested, I’m more experienced”, he told The Post on Tuesday. This week, Christie also referenced Rubio as one of the inexperienced candidates in the race. “I think they’re demonic”. The day before he resigned, campaign manager Barry Bennett said Carson’s team had raised about $23 million in the last quarter of 2015.
“The fact is that their messages are not working”, he said.
The campaign insists “the biased mainstream media doesn’t understand, but Americans who want to protect their jobs and their families do”. “And I think independent observers would suggest – whether it’s education, the commitment to reforming our child-welfare system or the other things that we did that were across the board, our child-support system, our business climate, taking on the plaintiffs’ bar, the teachers union the government unions – I think people would say without a doubt that I have the best record”. Finish poorly, and there likely is no plausible path forward, he added.
