Fargo’s Rachel Keller Lands Female Lead In FX’s Legion Series
The potential series focuses on the story of David Haller, the alleged son of Professor X who was previously diagnosed with Schizophrenia before realizing his supposed illness was actually something more.
According to The Wrap, Rachel Keller – best known for her work on the second season of FX’s Fargo – will team up with Hawley once again as Legion’s female lead.
Thanks to Deadline, we have our first piece of casting news for FX’s upcoming X-Men spin-off show, Legion.
As The Hollywood Reporter notes, there is now no word from either FX of Marvel TV about who exactly Keller will play.
The character is described as “a scrappy, optimistic woman in her 20s”, and will most likely manifest mutant abilities that are “tied to human touch”. However, after an unusual encounter with a fellow patient at a psychiatric hospital, David begins to believe he may not be insane after all.
It’s been a fast rise for Keller, who landed her breakout role as femme fatale Simone Gerhardt in Season 2 of Fargo right after graduating from Carnegie Mellon’s drama program in 2014.
Keller definitely impressed with her time on Fargo, and obviously was a favourite of showrunner Noah Hawley’s, as he has drafted her again for this next project. Keller only has a handful of other credits on her resume, including the indie film Hollidaysburg and episodes of Supernatural and The Mentalist.
Figuring out which one would take more of an X-Men expert than yours truly, and it’s possible the Legion writers could invent from from whole cloth or create a composite of several different comic book characters.
What do you think of two X-Men TV series? Some familiar names make up the executive producers on Legion, including Laruen Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory, and John Cameron.
