TNT pulls the plug on live-action Teen Titans TV series
Deadline reports TNT has decided not to proceed with the Teen Titans live-action series, even though it was ordered to pilot. Plus, Starfire, Raven, Barbara Gordon/Oracle and the duo Hawk & Dove were also expected to be in the show. “We decided it wasn’t where we wanted to go”, said TNT’s Kevin Reilly. Now that the Teen Titans TV prospects have been shot down, one wonders if DC and Warner Bros. might consider bring adapting the team for the movies.
In May 2015, Reilly explained that some of the discussions going on behind the scenes on Titans involved “that the [TV] landscape right now is well-serviced on the superhero front”. Titans together? No time soon, unfortunately. “There were consequences to things that happened; it wasn’t somebody died and they moved on”, he gushed. Perhaps it’s for the best though, since Goldsman is the writer behind the infamous Batman & Robin.
“I think it’s going to end up being a very, very interesting offering”. The most popular version of the group is the animated series Teen Titans.
Much of Reilly’s TCA presentation for TNT and TBS was about rebranding the networks with new original series.
Although we’ve heard nothing about the show outside of a rumored roster for the Teen Titans since it was announced over a year ago, many assumed that Titans was just trundling along.
