MLS expansion LAFC picks black and gold, unveils wing crest
Los Angeles Football Club unveiled their official crest and colors on Thursday – along with a new celebrity part-owner.
Ferrell joins an ownership group that numbers 25 and includes Hamm and her husband, former baseball player Nomar Garciaparra, basketball great Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Vietnamese American entrepreneur Henry Nguyen and entertainment mogul Peter Guber. “I’m still a part-owner of a 1984 Toyota Camry with my brother”. But he said he expects Ferrell to be an active part of the club, which will begin play in 2018.
Soccer in the United States will have a further sprinkling of stardust after actor Will Ferrell was confirmed as a co-owner of the MLS expansion franchise Los Angeles FC.
Even Nguyen, the managing partner of the club, wasn’t sure how many owners the team had when quizzed on the subject Thursday. I’ve never been a part owner of everything.
Ferrell starred in the movie Kicking and Screaming in 2005 as a coach of a youth boy’s team.
“I continue to play club soccer, our three boys all play soccer, my wife played soccer at Pomona”.
Earlier this year, LAFC announced its intent to build a new stadium in Downtown Los Angeles, at the site of the current Los Angeles Sports Arena.
The badge features “LA” in large letters, stylised with a feathered wing to reference Los Angeles” famed nickname, the “City of Angels’.
