Ways WWE Can Introduce AJ Styles
Styles was a veteran of TNA Impact Wrestling before leaving the company in 2014 and moving to New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Ring of Honor as a freelance wrestler.
As of today, none of the four have signed deals yet and the only two that are legally able to do so right now are Styles and Gallows, but they still have to take and pass WWE’s medical & physical exams.
There’s no indication of what they’ll be doing with Anderson and Gallows (although an ersatz Bullet Club stable with Styles and/or NXT champion Finn Balor, who was the stable’s original leader in Japan, would be a no-brainer), but according to several reports Styles won’t actually be reporting to NXT. Like the report mentions, Gallows may have talked with WWE officials already.
For Nakamura, WWE would pass on him.
After a forgettable stint in TNA as a member of Aces and Eights Gallows traveled to New Japan where he met with great success as a member of the famed “Bullet Club”. The faction took off after that, becoming one of the biggest groups in professional wrestling.
As with Styles, though, there are a few reasons to think WWE might push Nakamura as a serious threat.
Nakamura is part Michael Jackson, part Freddie Mercury and all awesome – a showman inside the ring and out.
Nakamura is a one-of-a-kind performer who has charisma to spare. There’re so many dream matches that can happen between those wrestlers. Nakamura heading to WWE will cause huge waves in New Japan, as he is a must-see attraction. Gallows is an imposing presence and a fine tag team wrestler. Rather than leaning on preconceived notions of what a star wrestler looks like, these signings would signify that WWE is fully on board with the idea that talent should be valued above all else.
He’s been red-hot for the last two years, looking every bit like the top-of-the-card star that some doubted he could be.
Fans would have had to enjoy those wrestlers in a separate environment from WWE. Though he never won a championship during his time in WWE, Gallows is a three-time IWGP Tag Team Champion with his most recent reign ending this past Monday (the same day he was signed by WWE).
So if we assume that AJ Styles is indeed on his way to the company, how will he make his bow? Omega also scored a pinfall over Nakamura, which looks to be setting up a one-on-one match for Nakamura’s title.
Speculation has been rife since news broke on Monday that the four stars had all given in their notice at NJPW following New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 10 on Sunday.
