‘Making a Murderer’ juror stands by verdict against Steven Avery
FOX6 News spoke with Buting, in his first interview with US media.
Making A Murderer debuted on December 18th and follows the story of Steven Avery, a Wisconsin man who was exonerated after 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. The current sheriff of Manitowoc County has rejected those claims. The Netflix series launched the public’s reexamination of the case and sparked speculation about whether Avery and Dassey are innocent of the crime. Since its premiere, the question of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey’s involvement in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach has grown.
Ken Kratz, the former district attorney of Calumet County, who prosecuted the case, said Avery’s DNA was found in Ms Halbach’s vehicle and on a bullet that investigators traced to Avery’s gun. “I think when people see things like that, they think that it could happen to them”. We certainly hadn’t heard the last of Making a Murderer before, though Investigation Discovery has yet to set an official airdate for their own special. I kept waiting for them to tell the truth.
Halbach’s bones and belongings were found burned near Avery’s trailer.
Bellin says that evidence is resonating with people.
“We are excited to share with viewers the latest in this compelling saga”, Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America said in a statement.
David Harsanyi, senior editor for the online magazine The Federalist, wrote a story headlined ” “Making A Murderer” Subject Steven Avery Is Guilty As Hell”.
“Early in his administration, Governor Walker made the decision not to issue pardons”, Walker spokeswoman Laurel Patrick Patrick told TwinCities.com.
Speaking to The Marshall Project, survivor Penny Beernsten said that “the day I learned of the exoneration was worse than the day I was assaulted”.
“From Avery’s apparent fondness for the victim, to his sweat under the hood latch of the victim’s auto, his gun linked to the murder and bleach on Brendan Dassey’s jeans, there was a lot of evidence that didn’t fit the frame-up narrative and those facts were not disclosed in the series”, Wells said.
