UFC president Dana White announced on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight on Wednesday that the newly crowned women’s bantamweight champion will not fight the woman she beat to claim the belt in her next trip to the Octagon.
Holm was a significant underdog going into the fight but managed to completely dominate Rousey before scoring a second-round knockout with the help of a vicious head kick and punches.
It’s believed former title challenger Miesha Tate is the favorite to fight Holm. Holm has previously expressed her desire to square off against Tate and believes that the 29-year-old deserves a title shot.

Rousey has already beaten Tate twice, albeit in relatively tough matches, and a third fight between those two wouldn’t command almost the public interest that Rousey-Holm 2 would. As for Ronda Rousey and her schedule for 2016: We know that she has a rematch with Holly Holm at UFC 200 sometime in July.
The big question is, however, whether Holm will still be the champ when Rousey returns. Sports. The announcement comes off a few days after “The Preacher’s Daughter” signed an eight-fight, multi-million-dollar extension with the UFC.
The UFC has not announced Holm’s next fight. She beat Raquel Pennington at UFC 184 by split decision in her UFC debut.
“Eight months is a long time between fights, and I don’t want to wait that long”, Holm told ESPN. USA soccer hero Carli Lloyd, UFC star Rousey and three-time victor Serena Williams were the top three vote-getters for The Associated Press 2015 Female Athlete of the Year award.
