Over-stretched United players in ‘red zone’, says Van Gaal

The Italian is set to become the new Bayern Munich boss in a few months as Pep Guardiola’s replacement.

Guardiola is now expected to complete a switch to the English top flight, with Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United all possible destinations for the former Barcelona manager.

Young hobbled off against Swansea City last weekend, when United ended an eight-game sequence without a win to ease the immediate pressure on Van Gaal. The Dutchman shrugged off the idea that Guardiola’s availability might affect him in the future.

The Italian was said to feel “more wanted” by Bayern and that he had greater confidence in the structures already in place at the Allianz Arena.

Tony Cascarino has warned Gareth Bale against signing for Manchester United and says he risks being “ruined” in Louis van Gaal’s “graveyard for flair”.
