Ronaldo’s mad response to Benitez
That relationship has apparently been further strained, leading to Ronaldo twice exploding in training on Wednesday, shouting at Rafa over ruling out a goal the Portuguese forward scored in a small-squad match, then reacting furiously over a training game Benitez wanted Madrid to play.
The 30-year-old was caught gesticulating on camera by television station Cuatro and shouting ‘Vai Caralho!’ in the direction of the Real Madrid coach.
Later on, during an exercise in which the players had to hit the crossbar before ending the training session, Ronaldo said “the ball should go on the net, not this s***”.
Ronaldo, who has won the Ballon d’Or on three occasions, played the first-half on Saturday as Real Madrid lost their opening match on penalties to Roma.
“I wish all the players had the same enthusiasm to compete and win”. I see it as a virtue, not a defect.
The agent also claimed that Gareth Bale has been given a special treatment in Real because the Los Blancos president believes him to be the best player in the world.
“There are people that say this or that, but I can assure you that it’s not true”.
“He is competitive and he wants to win”.
“I always try to bring out the best of the players I have. He proves it every day and I’m delighted”.
The Spanish giants finished runners-up to Barcelona in the Primera Division, a competition they have not won since 2011-12.
The La Liga club face Manchester City in a pre-season friendly in Melbourne on Friday, but their preparations have been disrupted by claims that Ronaldo is unhappy with Benitez’s methods of training.
