Ronda Rousey Wearing Nothing but Paint for SI Swimsuit Issue
As far as Rousey is concerned, White promises that she will return to the Octagon soon but gave no exact date for her next bout.
Dana White announced last night on FOX Sports 1′s UFC Tonight programme that Rousey will eventually return to action, but Holm will face a different opponent in the meantime.
The UFC powerhouse will make her debut on SNL to host the January 23 episode, the show’s second of the new year. You can find his podcast, The Fight Club Chicago, and subscribe on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher and You Tube.
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue editor M.J. Day teased Rousey’s inclusion in the body paint feature on Wednesday, posting a photo of her, as yet unidentified, body painted posterior to Instagram with the hashtag #instabooty. The UFC hasn’t said who the vaunted striker will fight next.
According to Cagewriter, the UFC tried to talk Holm out of an interim fight, but she wouldn’t budge.
But Holm expressed the desire to compete before the July event. She lost in a stunning upset to current title holder Holly Holm on November 14. Holm’s camp wants her to fight, rather than wait on the sidelines, however, and apparently they got their wish.
“We have officially signed a multiyear extension with the UFC”, says Fresquez. And seeing as she practically broke the Internet past year when she featured in the issue, why not go with an encore? And from a pure business standpoint, was it worth the risk for White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta to immediately put their biggest star back in the cage against a competitor who thoroughly dominated her? But we’d argue that an athlete hasn’t topped the pop culture totem pole until he or she has come to us “live from New York” on a Saturday night.
