Japan, France condemn Pathankot terror attack
Pakistan on Monday again condemned the airbase attack in India and said it is “working on the leads provided by” New Delhi to help investigate the deadly assault in line with Islamabad’s commitment to effectively counter and eradicate terrorism.
Pathankot: Guns fell silent this morning at the air base here even as the operation against terrorists entered its fourth day with security personnel engaged in search and combing operations to sanitise the installation.
India will decide its next course of peace diplomacy after seeing the action Pakistan takes on the evidence provided by India in the Pathankot airbase attack, a top official in the government has told The Indian Express.
Prime Minister Modi strongly emphasized the need for Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against the organizations and individuals responsible for and linked to the Pathankot terrorist attack, officials said.
While United Jihad Council, a group based in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, said that it had orchestrated the attack, a report by CNN affiliate CNN-IBN cites government sources that deny the group’s involvement. “Security has been tightened”, Rajan Bhagat, the city’s police spokesman, said Monday.
He also said that the possible presence of two more members of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group inside the Indian Air Force (IAF) base for more than 72 hours prompted the Indian Army to continue the operation.
Japan and France on Tuesday joined other countries in condemning the attack at the Pathankot air base in which seven securitymen were killed. “So it’s something that everybody can attack more”, he said. Kirby said the USA has for a long time talked about the continued safe haven issues there between Afghanistan and Pakistan and certainly between India and Pakistan.
“Terrorists are trying to derail the peace process and sabotage peaceful environment between the two countries”, Nawaz said.
Indian media has reported that New Delhi is mulling cancelling or delaying the Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan following the attack.
