Ronda Rousey isn’t next for Holly Holm says UFC president Dana White
“Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda”, White said.
Dana White has confirmed that Holly Holm is not facing Ronda Rousey next, but that doesn’t mean anything’s changed, in terms of the latter’s plans to fight again. White has announced no opponent or date, but one must imagine that former Strikeforce champion and current UFC contender Miesha Tate would be the pick for Holm’s first title defense.
White told Fox Sports 1, “You will see Ronda Rousey fight again”. The MMA company is hoping that she recovers in time to headline UFC 200 with Holm in July, at a lavish event set to be held at an arena still under construction in Las Vegas. White did not announce when or who she’ll fight next.
Holm outlined her reluctance to wait so long before defending her title earlier this week. And Holm’s manager said previously that Holm wants the best possible challenger, naming Tate as that fighter.
Although, with her Saturday Night Live hosting gig this month it doesn’t appear Ronda’s star status has diminished much. I don’t see a point in reliving the moment when a part of my loved one died, when I saw someone I cared about have her soul crushed.
“We have officially signed a multiyear extension with the UFC”, says Fresquez. Ronda has dedicated the last three-plus years working hard, not just fighting but promoting, taking the sport and the UFC to another level. Will she break the news about an upcoming fight? Rousey has also been setting the internet on fire with her rumored body paint swimsuit for Sports Illustrated.
Rousey is slated to host Saturday Night Live on January 23 and was recently spotted geeking out at Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
