Porsche 911 Facelift revealed in official prototype photos
There were also talks about a new turbocharged boxer six units that will be replacing the flat six engine that it was running on.
A boostier version of the same engine is set for the 911 Carrera S, claimed to make 309kW and 500Nm from just 1700rpm.
Apparently, Porsche is done hiding it’s facelifted 911 with one exception; the tail lamps that continue to be covered behind fake graphics (you’ll have to look at our close-up photo to tell), but other than that, this is it folks. GT models like the GT3 and GT3 RS are expected to remain naturally aspirated for the foreseeable future, however.
The 0-100km/h sprint is said to drop four-tenths to 4.2 seconds for C2 and by a half-second to just 4.0sec for C2S, both with the PDK seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Hopefully throttle response comes closer to that of the Mercedes-AMG C63 rather than the light-switch BMW M3, each recent turbo-turners with varied results.
A group of 911s can be seen negotiating roads in South Africa, wearing the model’s revised look in what Porsche calls the “991.2”. Inside the cabin, nothing much has changed except for the right-hand side mounted driving mode selector borrowed from 918 Spyder and a bit bigger display for the infotainment system.
Just days after a completely undisguised version of Porsche’s updated 911 Carrera, the Type 991.2, was spotted tested on the Nürburgring, some of the official specs have surfaced in German media.
