Jeep unveils 75th-anniversary special editions for its entire lineup
To honor almost a full century of continued existence, Jeep is rolling out a 75th Anniversary edition for every single vehicle it produces.
All vehicles will be available in green exterior paints, including Sarge Green, Recon Green or Jungle Green, depending on the model, with Low Gloss Bronze wheels, Bronze and Orange exterior accents and 75th Anniversary badges.
If you didn’t know it was Jeep’s 75th anniversary this year, it’s your fault for not paying attention.
Over on the special edition Jeep Renegade (based on the Latitude variant), a host of items can be found outside. Originally developed by the tiny American Bantam auto company, the “Jeep” (as it came to be known) was a stalwart of military duty for decades to come. “A 6.5” touchscreen radio, UConnect and SiriusXM will also be evident.
Jeeps first started slinging mud around back in 1941. Even though the Wrangler hasn’t changed much in many years, the toughest SUVs on the market continues to sell like hot cakes late in its current life cycle. Cherokee buyers will get the same special cloth inserts and also a dual-pane sunroof. Exterior items include front and rear tow hooks, steel bumpers in low gloss bronze in the front and rear, a body-colour grille with low gloss bronze grille throats and headlamp rings, a power dome hood with functional air vents and off-road rock rails.
The 2016 Grand Cherokee 75 ($37,770) gets a new front fascia and headlights, exclusive wheels, tow hooks, roof rails and bronze trim. The SUV also gets a MySky open-air roof system along with a Beats audio system. Other stuff includes a unique 75th badge, leather-faced seats with ombre sport mesh inserts, light bronze interior bezels, remote start, soft tonneau cover, and the 2.4L engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The 75th Anniversary models will also receive Jeep Command-Trac 4×4 transfer case with 2.72:1 ratio, Dana 30 front axle and heavy-duty Dana 44 rear axle.
