Mutschlechner murder suspect admitted ‘responsibility’ in fatal shooting
During that time a SUV with 5 or 6 men pulled up and exchanged words with Mutschlechner and her friends.
Johnson, who was arrested Tuesday at a military base in Yuma, Ariz., was a corporal assigned to the aviation weapons and tactics squadron, but has since been “administratively separated from the Marine Corps”.
Police in Denton, Texas, said he had been arrested on a murder warrant over the death of Sara Mutschlechner, 20.
“It was an amicable conversation to begin with, but quickly went downhill and some derogatory statements were made toward the female occupants of that vehicle”, Kizer said.
A short time later, the SUV followed Mutschlechner and fired into the vehicle hitting her in the head and causing the auto to crash, injuring her passengers. They say he was affiliated with a rap group, the Daytona Boyz, who performed at the party. The arrest affidavit says occupants of Mutschlechner’s vehicle said they’d stayed at the party for about 45 minutes.
As the investigation continues, several items of value as evidence have been recovered, including a handgun police believe to be the murder weapon wielded by Johnson, the release said.
The affidavit says that when one of the men in Mutschlechner’s vehicle responded that he didn’t appreciate the comments, the driver, later identified as Johnson, displayed a handgun and indicated he would shoot. He will be returned to Texas within 10 days. Her auto then stuck another moving vehicle before crashing into an electrical pole.
“They may have taken part in the banter back and forth but whether or not they knew that he was going to commit a violent act or an illegal act, we have to determine that”, said Denton Officer Shane Kizer.
A man with the Twitter handle Santana Sage – later identified as Johnson – was identified by witnesses as the SUV driver, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. He said Johnson is an administrative specialist and has never been deployed.
