Powerball Winning Numbers: How To Check If You Won A $500M Jackpot
On Wednesday, the winning numbers of the $500 million Powerball jackpot will be drawn, and one or more people across the country may become multi-millionaires overnight.
Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Peuto Rico. Whether you choose your own numbers or play a quick pick, the odds are still 1 in 175,223,510 that you’ll collect the $5000 million. Grab your ticket and get ready to find out if you won the $500 million jackpot. None of those were in Kansas.
After Saturday’s jackpot came and went without a big victor, millions of new tickets sold sent the total soaring to an estimated half a billion dollars. But as lottery officials often note, you have no chance of winning if you don’t buy a ticket.
The jackpot would have a $413.1 million cash payout before tax.
That’s more than the average contribution from state lottery sales, which are mostly scratch-off tickets. The previous largest was a Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million in 2012.
That’s where 3 winners split a $564 million dollar prize. Overall odds to win a prize are 1 in 24.9.
“This is the sixth largest jackpot of any US lottery game on record and the fourth largest Powerball jackpot”, said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery and chair of the Powerball game group.
If you wish to purchase a ticket you have until 8 p.m. Wednesday to buy a ticket for the drawing that will take place at 8:59 p.m.
Richard Lustig claims to be a seven-time lottery grand prize victor and author of “Learn How To Increase Your Chances of Winning The Lottery”.
“I’ve already bought a couple; I’ll probably buy another one or two before the day’s over, since today’s the day they’re going to make the drawing”, said Gary Zander of Groveland.
