DraftKings Wild Card Picks – NFL Playoffs
It makes it exciting to match up with them a few times during the season. So yeah, that means a look at their history as a wild-card team seems in order. The unknown factor in this game at TCF Bank Stadium is the weather: A high temperature of 4 degrees is forecast, and both teams could struggle to adapt.
Picks against the spread: Steelers (-2.5), Redskins (+1). A year ago there was only one road team that advanced during wildcard weekend; while I’m not saying there won’t be another road team that advances, I find it hard to believe that all four will.
Despite their differences in style and consistency, this matchup presents a similar approach in statistical profiles. Texans QB Brian Hoyer, who has won four of his past six starts, will be making his postseason debut.
To continue with the similarities, Houston went 9-7 against the spread, just a tad better than KC’s 8-8 mark.
Saturday 3:35 p.m. on ESPN/ABC: No. 5 seed Kansas City (11-5) at No. 4 Houston (9-7)-The Chiefs had the better record but did not win the AFC West Division, so they have to travel to Houston, champs of the AFC South.
As riveting as it is to watch your favorite team play a heart-stopping playoff game, a stress-free sports weekend is just as great.
This game features the league’s most efficient home quarterback against one struggling to manufacture any consistent offense. The opening Saturday game is usually scheduled for the less attractive game on the slate, but this one should be hard-fought and full of strategy, with the Chiefs coming out on top.
There are even rumblings around that Mike McCarthy’s job might be in jeopardy if they lose this game and everyone is picking them to lose.
These two teams hit a hot streak in the AFC, going a combined 16-2 since the start of November to surge into the playoffs. In the four games Big Ben didn’t start, the Steelers averaged 315.3 yards per game. Every other game was zero or negative.
Despite starting 8-0, the Bengals limped a bit to the finish line, especially considering that they lost QB Andy Dalton and have needed backup AJ McCarron for the past 4 games.
So I found this really fun and easy NFL Playoff bracket builder on a site called “Playtronics” and I thought it’d be interesting to share with everyone. As Breech notes, the Bengals will either win a close game, or they will be completely blown out. Kirk Cousins took over at quarterback when Robert Griffin III suffered a concussion in the preseason and missed the entire season.
Washington is a different team at home. Marvin Lewis is 0-6 all-time in the playoffs. Ben Roethlisberger, on the other hand, can put up flashy enough numbers to win the game. However, as the end of the season showed, the window of contention can always close fast for the Bengals, who remain the more balanced team in this matchup.
Comment: One of only two times the Seahawks have won a road playoff game came the first time they played in one, at Miami against the Dan Marino-led Dolphins. This is why I’m calling the upset. Seattle’s run defense is arguably the best in the league and when they beat the tar out of Minnesota earlier this season, Bridgewater was sacked four times, threw an interception and managed only 118 yards.
Seattle won at Minnesota 38-7 in Week 13.
The Texans come in with a three-game winning streak of their own, but their defense is more of a one-man attack, while the Chiefs are more complete across the board.
NFC Wild Card Game, Seahawks-Vikings (1:05 p.m. Sunday, NBC). This is truly one of the best defenses in the NFL.
The teams split in the regular season, with each winning on the road. Their star man and playmaker, RB Adrian Peterson, led the league with 1485 rushing yards this season but he faces the NFL’s top ranked run defense this weekend. M/P gives the Seahawks a 69% chance to win this game. It’s Minnesota’s first outdoor playoff game in 39 years as the Vikings are temporarily playing at the University of Minnesota while their new stadium is being built. As strong as the Bengals offensive line is, I think Pittsburgh defensive coordinator Keith Butler will be extra aggressive with his pressure packages to try and protect his vulnerable secondary.
