Joy invents the “Miracle Mop”, a self-wringing and washable contraption that’s unlike any mop ever slung around a kitchen floor.

In “Joy”, David O. Russell completely forgets what age and appropriate casting are. And yet, Joy is a timeless story of perseverance and ambition that will join the ranks of great women driven biopics such as Erin Brockovich and La Vie en Rose.

Joy is different from numerous run-of-the-mill films coming off the Hollywood conveyor belt and its effervescent approach to its subject matter will lift the spirit considerably. OK, so she may “look like she’s 16” but this is a hardened woman, people.

Q: What do you think of Jennifer Lawrence playing you?

“Joy” is an unpretentious, straightforward story of a housewife from Long Island who succeeds in spite of all the socially conceived odds stacked against her. She endures criticism and vocal derision from her family and close friends who can’t believe she has the intelligence, creativity, fortitude and perseverance to win in business.

Soon after, the audience is thrown into details of Joy’s unusual family: her lonely divorced mother who rarely leaves the house, ex-husband who still lives in the basement, argumentative divorced father who hates Joy’s ex-husband, jealous step-sister, and two children. “One summer, I piled my stuffed animals into a wagon and went around my neighbourhood selling them, just to give me something to do”, she tells Hello!

Russell has said that his Joy is a composite of several female entrepreneurs, and her last name is never uttered in the film.

I am a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan.

The actress talked about her plan to direct after finishing the “Hunger Games” movie series. [This is] a film about women, and the strengths start with the grandmother.

This year, Oscar voters face a similar dilemma. All of those performances were in acclaimed films by directors who cast them perfectly. IDL also manages product lines for icon and celebrated supermodel IMAN, celebrity chefs Ming Tsai and Lorena Garcia, GRAMMY Award-winning producerRandy Jackson, and Four-time GRAMMY Award-winner and American Idol judge Keith Urban. It’s the best she’s been in years.

This production is different from Russell’s other two excellent productions. I understand why Jennifer Lawrence very well may end up with yet another nomination this year, which would be her fourth overall.

Q: So now you’re making a new version of the Miracle Mop? Robinson is absolutely correct: The Oscars are about putting on an entertaining show starring people we admire as much as the evening is about recognizing quality. But many of these moments still have a very strong undercurrent of comedy, and the screenplay falters when a solution to all of Joy’s problems appears out of nowhere because, it suggests, she has been pushed to the brink.
