Arsene Wenger hails Mesut Ozil impact for Arsenal
The 23-year-old’s career has been plagued with ankle and foot injuries since he made his Arsenal debut at the age of 16 and he has only once played more than 25 Premier League games in a season. “I think as well that he is happy here and I’m sure until the end of the season he will play more games”.
Thierry Henry recently pointed out that the Gunners must still travel to face a number of their main rivals in the second half of the campaign, as the former Arsenal icon refuses to get carried away with their start to the season.
Hernandez was unceremoniously dumped by Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to Bayer Leverkusen during the summer for just £7million but since his move to Germany, the Mexican star has managed a stunning 19 goals in 21 appearances so far this season.
Steve McClaren bizarrely named exactly the same eleven players (Elliot then feeling ill and replaced last minute by Darlow) for the game at West Brom, despite such a tough game against Everton and so little recovery time.
“Other people question our mentality, but I don’t”.
Wenger’s men have now returned to the top as Petr Cech also set a new Premier League clean sheet record as he reached 170 shut outs.
Cech said: “Everybody wants to win the league and we are one of those teams who wants to go and try to win the league”.
Ozil is now at the peak of his powers back to the form he regularly showed at Real Madrid and could yet be the guiding force behind Arsenal’s first league title since 2004.
“We can have great solidarity in every single game and after that we have a chance”.
“I have already said many times that goalkeeper is maybe the most underrated position in football”, Wenger said. But Man United had huge potential over the years. But you can not rule us out. “Patience is not a quality we have much of in society, but you need it in football”.
Arsenal’s squad depth has been tested to the full by an injury crises that has seen them lose numerous first team players including Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Francis Coquelin.
