Warriors too good for Los Angeles Lakers
It’s a Pacific Division affair as the Golden State Warriors go head-to-head against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center in the regular season of the National Basketball Association.
Klay Thompson set the tone for the Warriors and the Lakers came up empty.
Beyond Curry’s ability to torch opponents from beyond the arc, he’s invaluable to Golden State because of his ability to draw double-teams, whip passes around the floor and wreak havoc on drives with his tremendous court vision and soft touch.
It happened again in the third quarter Tuesday, when Curry’s shin smacked into the leg of Lakers center Roy Hibbert. The injury kept the Golden State Warriors superstar out of two games at the end of December, and he had to leave Saturday’s game early, too. “Long term it isn’t something I need to worry about, it’s just playing through an injury, it’s just there”.
Backcourt: Steph Curry is the heart and soul of the Warriors, but he has been riddled with nagging injuries for several games.
Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson (11) and forward Draymond Green (23) celebrate during the fourth quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks at Oracle Arena. The word is that Curry would have to sit out about four weeks in order to let the injury fully heal, according to Rusty Simmons of the Sac Francisco Chronicle.
“Nothing surprises me with him”, Warriors interim coach Luke Walton said of Curry.
The Warriors were in command for much of the first half, leading by as many as 12 before ultimately settling for a 62-54 advantage at intermission. Kobe (Bryant) wouldn’t sit for anything, and most of the time, he was still able to play at a level that made us a better team. “We want that thing to get well because right now they way it looks, if he plays, a couple of days later it’s starting to get sore again”. “They have a high IQ, and they capitalize on the lower IQs”.
When he got the ball to Stephen Curry behind the 3-point line, Green made history.
Struggling Philadelphia 76ers’ resurrection continues with a 109-99 win over Minnesota Timberwolves – their third in six games which was helped by 21 points from Ish Smith – while Detroit Pistons registered their biggest win of the season with a 115-89 rout of Orlando Magic. Lakers coach Byron Scott is cautiously optimistic that the 20-year veteran will return Thursday in Sacramento. He could also miss Wednesday’s game in Phoenix….
Green was attempting to become the second player in 27 years to post four straight triple-doubles. Walton said it’s part of the team’s goal to minimize travel weariness…. Lou Williams scored 10 points, all on free throws, as he was 0 of 7 from the field. Even Metta World Peace logged 25 minutes (and one technical foul) in his first game since December 6.
