Bears offensive coordinator Gase interviews with Dolphins
The interviews Wednesday were held out of town, and it’s the first time for the leadership group to work together, as DePodesta was hired Tuesday after 20 years in front offices of Major League Baseball teams.
The Adam Gase era in Philadelphia has come to an end before it even started.
The Eagles can still sign a good head coach, but missing out on Gase really puts a damper on the process.
These are the questions that I don’t think Adam Gase has the answers to. You get older really quick.
“They don’t want to make that same mistake they did the last time, but they don’t want to lose a guy they really like”. I believe the Browns get the first interview, based on earlier reports, but we’ll see what happens on Sunday.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Gase and the Dolphins are indeed “making progress” toward a deal, but to date no deal is done. Should the Chiefs advance, next week is the “window” for Pederson to interview with other teams. That’s how things usually go in these coaching searches. I will give credit to Gase for brining in Clint Hurtt from the Bears to be DL coach.
Gase’s greatest strength has to be his incredibly diverse background. Here’s part of that story, specifically as it relates to what he was able to get out of starting quarterback Jay Cutler, despite the loss of leading receiver Brandon Marshall.
Quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains would be a logical Bears’ in-house candidate for offensive coordinator.
The Miami Dolphins officially named Adam Gase their new head coach Saturday morning. “They’re not any individual’s systems, they are our systems”.
The Dolphins were 6-10 this season and missed the playoffs for the seventh consecutive year.
Gase becomes the NFL’s youngest head coach, but he has 16 years of experience at the college and National Football League levels, starting as a defensive graduate assistant at LSU under then-coach Nick Saban in 2000.
Still, the sense is Campbell would benefit from a few more years of seasoning. It’s not known where the team ranks on his list. “Finding good, quality coaches have never been a problem”.
If the Dolphins can entice Gase with the prospect of working in a warm-weather city with quarterback Ryan Tannehill, it could open up another possibility for the Browns.
He’s also considered one of the hottest properties in the coaching market. Although if there is a meeting of the minds, McAdoo and Gase could create a truly special offensive system.
