Marco Rubio unamused about ‘high-heeled booties’ scrutiny
“His plan after the attack in San Bernardino: take away our guns”, Mr. Rubio says in the ad, which was released by his campaign on the same day the president announced his long-anticipated executive actions on gun control.
In the embedded video, he’s standing in front of racks of shoes, and while holding one, he said with a smile, “We’ve seen Rubio has those cute new boots and I don’t want to be outdone”.
“He has united a lot of people”, Vander Plaats said.
“I want immigrants to come in, but they have to come in legally”, Trump reiterated.
Both Rubio and Cruz win the support of every other candidate’s voters against Trump except for Rubio losing to him among Cruz supporters – but only narrowly, and he still wins overall by double digits. Rand Paul says Rubio is weak on national security and a neo-conservative. “This issue is fundamentally changed because we now have a radical, apocalyptic, jihadist group that is using our immigration system against us”.
“We are going to bring illegal immigration under control”, he said. “Unfortunately, Senator Marco Rubio doesn’t share those same Texas values”.
Rubio is also battling multiple rivals for the various constituencies he’s trying to win. Marco Rubio of Florida spends more time campaigning than attending important hearings.
Rubio’s trip to Dallas comes less than one month before the first in the nation Iowa caucus. That’s the true establishment nightmare scenario, where everyone moves on to SC with Cruz having won Iowa, Trump having won New Hampshire, and the moderate niche still unsettled and divided.
“If we get this election wrong, there may be no going back for this country”.
“Sen. Cruz’s vote to gut intelligence programs fits with his isolationist positions and votes against defense spending”, Rubio spokesman Alex Conant said.
The second ad slams Christie for his unpopularity in his home state, and describes his term as governor in five words: “High taxes”. You know why? Because while as a senator I can help shape the agenda.
“So Rubio’s foreign policy and national security strategy is to invade Middle Eastern countries, create power vacuums for terrorist organizations, allow their people to come to America unvetted, give them legal status and citizenship, then impose a massive surveillance state to monitor the problem”, said Alice Stewart, Cruz’s national spokesperson.
“He represents a generational shift”. Rubio’s penchant for skipping Senate votes has only added to the perception that the 44-year-old lawmaker is both lazy and overly ambitious. “But that’s fine”, Rubio said. “He has credibility among conservatives, but he’s not so stridently conservative that alienates people in the middle”. Cory Gardner, R-Colorado, voted in favor of it. Rubio has also been endorsed by Sen. The Boston Globe noted as recently as December that 10 G.O.P. candidates had spent more time in the Granite State than Rubio, who had just seven staffers in the state (“a size more in line with what struggling candidates have”), few local endorsements, and only the occasional campaign appearance, leading residents to grumble to the Globe about his reputation for arriving late to events and leaving early.
And compared to other politicians’ fashion, um, missteps (never forget Al Gore and Bill Clinton’s joggers), Rubio definitely wore his better.
