24-Year-Old Woman Arrested in String of Southeast Jewelry Store Robberies
The FBI said it has identified and arrested a woman believed to be involved in several jewelry store robberies across the southeast, including one in North Carolina.
Abigail Lee Kemp, 24, was taken into custody by agents with the FBI Atlanta Division who were assisting agents from Jacksonville, according to the FBI.
Stores were struck in Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. They have not yet released information about the circumstances of the arrest nor the identity of the second suspect.
Kemp is accused of robbing the Jared Vault store in Mebane, at 4000 Arrowhead Blvd.in the Tanger Outlets shopping center, on Monday.
She allegedly entered the store armed with a handgun, forcing employees to the back of the store where their hands were zip-tied, before committing the robbery. They said she made off with more than $400,000 worth of jewels.

The FBI said the case would be handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
