Draymond Green records his third straight triple-double
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry aggravated his left shin contusion again Tuesday night in a 109-88 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, but he said he’s not anxious about the injury long term and that he just needs to protect it while he’s on the floor.
Interim coach Luke Walton prepared for the game assuming Curry would sit after leaving Saturday’s game with a bruised left shin.
Golden State’s Draymond Green became the second Warriors player in history to post three straight triple-doubles, leading the hosts to a 111-101 victory over Charlotte which extended their winning streak in regular-season home games to 35. Curry is certainly an essential part of the Warriors team but they are 33-2 and three and a half games clear of the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference right now so resting the injury might be in his, and the teams, best interest.
“I was just trying to go as hard as I could and not feel pain on any of the moves that I made”, Curry said.
The Golden State Warriors play their second game in two nights when they travel to face the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Centre.
“Probably like four weeks, but I’m not going to sit out four weeks”, Curry said.
While it is not surprising to see the defending National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors in possession of a three-game winning streak, it certainly qualifies as stunning to view the Los Angeles Lakers with one as well.
Thompson was a first-time All-Star last season and could very well be back again this season despite Bryant dominating the sentimental vote in what he has said will be his final season before retiring. Boasting a league-high seven triple-doubles – three of which were consecutive – the outspoken small-ball center has averaged 14.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks over the last five contests.
Jordan Clarkson scored 23 points for the Lakers. Curry’s fourth 3-pointer of the game pushed the Warriors’ lead in the third to 76-55.
Lakers: F Kobe Bryant (R shoulder soreness) and G D’Angelo Russell (sore throat) were listed as questionable and declared out prior to tipoff.
Forward Chris Bosh scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and guard Dwyane Wade added 27 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 103-100 overtime win against the Indiana Pacers at AmericanAirlines Arena. Draymond is also coming for Gola’s franchise record of nine triple-doubles in a season, too.
Golden State was held without a free throw in the first half, while the Lakers shot 19 foul shots for 16 points. It’s just playing through an injury that’s there. “We want to get it all out of there and go from there”.
After struggling most of the season, Speights has found his stride of late.
