Turbulence injures multiple Air Canada passengers, diverts flight
Turbulence on an Air Canada flight from China injured multiple passengers on Wednesday, forcing the aircraft to land in Calgary, the airline said.
“To start with it was just okay, normal just up and down, and all of a sudden it was really violent and just shaking everybody off”, said Yi Lee, a passenger aboard plane.
Just as the Air Canada flight AC6006 was above the Atlantic Ocean, he allegedly assaulted a woman flight attendant, and then, according to some reports, bit her finger. “But honestly we felt we were dying”.
Even enthusiastic fliers like me can get nervous when there is some chunky turbulence around. Some had greater concerns for possible neck or back injuries.
She added that the girl sitting beside her was thrown “right out of her seat down the aisle” when the turbulence hit.
Passengers not injured told reporters of a frightening scene at the time of the turbulence.
He said many passengers are lulled into a feeling of safety by an industry that doesn’t want to scare people, as well as an aircraft that isolates the senses.
Two dozen passengers aboard an Air Canada flight from Shanghai to Toronto were injured when their flight encountered extreme turbulence above Alaska, the Calgary Herald reported on Thursday.
“I heard lots of people screaming, like what you would hear on a roller-coaster”, said Feng.
“It was a little scary, but all the crew were professional, handled themselves well”. Twenty-one passengers were transferred directly to local hospitals from the airport comprising eight with non-life threatening injuries and 13 for observation.

The Transportation Safety Board said an investigation will be conducted focusing on the digital flight recorder and the cockpit voice recorder, as well as by interviewing the crew.
“They will see if they can gather enough evidence to understand what happened”, she said.
