Why Trump is going ‘birther’ on Ted Cruz
The U.S. State Department addresses the issue of citizenship at birth by saying “a child born overseas to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the Immigaration and Nationality Act”.
That scene was seen as a downward turning point in the show’s quality and gave rise to the phrase “jumping the shark” for the moment when something that was once successful begins to decline.
Under the Constitution, presidents must be a “natural-born citizen”, according to the report.
Within days of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump releasing his first television campaign ad, full of anti-immigrant rhetoric, the political organization FWD.us released its own video, exploring the costs of mass deportation.
Trump will be traveling the rest of the week, making stops in Vermont, South Carolina, Iowa and Nevada.
But Trump refrained from repeating comments he made just prior to the evening rally, insinuating GOP rival Ted Cruz would face years of lawsuits if elected president, due to his Canadian birth.
More than four in ten Republican voters in California (43%) say they would be dissatisfied or upset were Trump to become their party’s nominee, while only about half as many say this about Cruz (21%) or Rubio (24%).
Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, in 1970 to a mother who was a US citizen and a father who was born in Cuba, the Post reports.
“That’s terrible, terrible. You should never say that”, Trump responded. The last thing Trump wants is for Cruz to be amused by him.
Trump was one of the loudest voices questioning whether President Obama was born in Kenya and thus not eligible to be USA president.
“I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape”, Trump told ABC News last September of his rival’s constitutional eligibility because of his birthplace. I am not sure whether they’re right, but it’s something to think about.
“Trump’s paid media launch is a twofer: His ads keep his campaign momentum going, and the coverage that they generate make it harder for others in the race to get coverage during this critical time”, said Evan Tracey, senior vice president at National Media Inc., a GOP TV-ad-buying firm. “I mean, I have many women – I was very, very far advanced on women”, he said, referring to hiring women for high positions in his company- he said he’d have to weigh the issue.
At a rally in Lowell, Massachusetts, just a few miles from New Hampshire, Trump, calling himself “a messenger in a sense”, harshly criticized Hillary Clinton but did not mention Bill Clinton.
Trump then vowed that his wall would be built better, bigger, stronger and cheaper.
