Publisher plans no future editions of Cosby bio

Now that the cavalier attitudes towards drugs and consent have come straight from the disgraced comedian’s mouth in a 2005 deposition recently obtained by the Associated Press, support for Bill Cosby is evaporating faster than…well, faster than it should have evaporated when allegations of sexual assault were first leveled against him a decade ago. Dozens of new accusations against Cosby followed the set.

Goldstein did not have an immediate comment on any changes to the actual book.

The THR story notes: “Simon & Schuster spokesperson Cary Goldstein adds that as of Wednesday morning all of the endorsements have been removed from online retailers”. Moore’s quote had read, “If I was America’s “sweetheart” – turning the world on with a smile – then Bill Cosby was and still is our ‘best man”, and Crystal had deemed the book, “A revealing, honest look at my favorite comedian”. “Cosby” has sold poorly in recent months and the hardcover ranked No. 350,880 on Amazon.com’s best-seller list as of late Wednesday afternoon.

Last year, Mark Whitaker wrote a biography of Cosby that was promoted with glowing words of praise from people like Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, and Billy Crystal. Goldstein said that representatives from a few of the celebrities had contacted Simon & Schuster about removing their blurbs, but declined to cite specific names. This comes just on the heels of filmmakers affirming that Cosby had been cut from a documentary about black stuntmen yesterday. Both of whom, as stated by The Hollywood Reporter today, have asked that their quotes be removed from Mark Whitaker’s 2014 Cosby biography titled “Cosby: His Life and Times”. Over 40 women have come forward in the past few months to accuse Cosby of sexually molesting them after drugging them with pills.
