Van Gaal open to January transfers

Paul Scholes launched another attack on Van Gaal’s team after the final whistle, the former United midfielder claiming the players looked “bored” during the match. Van Gaal himself is hardly convincing, much less his team, and as the weeks go by the pundits have grown more tolerable, not because they’re necessarily getting better at their job, but because United are making their critiques ring true.

Considering the football as a “brain sport”, the 64-year-old urged his side to focus on the game and try to score as many goals as possible.

“You have to play more quickly than we did in the first half”.

“We can not say that because when there is a chance to make a selection better, we shall do it but I do not think we shall”.

“There are three results and we’ll take two of them”. During both those runs they defeated Premier League opposition both home and away, so boss Nigel Adkins will be hoping his players can draw on that experience.

It will be interesting to see if Van Gaal sees this as an opportunity to let his players off the leash so to speak, against opposition they are expected to beat comfortably. “It’s always hard to play against such an opponent with 10 or 11 players behind the ball”, he said.

“I see that also in the training sessions but you have to show it also at a certain time for 90 minutes and that’s why football is so awesome because you never know”.

“Managers have ambitions and Pep Guardiola has that ambition too and he wants to sniff the culture of England and the Premier League and I wanted that also. We have to wait and see”.

Van Gaal has been under pressure at Old Trafford as some supporters voice concerns about the style of play the Dutchman is implementing at Manchester United.

He’ll be happy with the 1-0 win.
