Perry, Schumer, Evans to Present at Golden Globes

In the past three decades four actors have won Golden Globes in both categories but failed to clinch an Oscar that year: George Clooney, Jim Carrey, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise.

Though “Star Wars” is again packing movie theaters and smashing box office records, J.J. Abrams’ “The Force Awakens” will be a conspicuous outsider at Sunday night’s Globes, which announced nominations a few days before the film was screened in mid-December. “But Globe voters aren’t all that annoyed, and they want Leo on their TV show”.

The Golden Globes 2016 will broadcast January 10 on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

Most importantly, the Globes are the gateway to the televised awards season, all leading up to the Oscars. The lead actress race seems to be a toss-up between “Carol” star Cate Blanchett, a nine-time Globes nominee and three-time victor, and “Room’s” Brie Larson.

Best Motion Picture, Drama – The victor will be Spotlight.

NBC stations’ websites will feature the latest red carpet photos and up-to-date information about this year’s awards show, including the list of nominees and winners, as well as a “Guess Who Wore It” interactive game highlighting what the stars wore to the award show and in previous years. The actor’s performance in the locally-filmed miniseries “Show Me A Hero” garnered a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Lady Gaga may also collect her first Golden Globe for American Horror Story: Hotel. I’m inclined to think she won’t win, however. E! will be live streaming the famous Golden Globe red carpet fashion on television and online beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern.

In the last 15 years, only once has neither the drama nor musical/comedy Globe victor taken home the Oscar (11 times drama, 3 times musical/comedy).

In between Gervais’ barbs, tons of awards will be handed out at the 2016 Golden Globes.

And since this is the 25th anniversary of Moet & Chandon being the official champagne of the awards show, don’t be too surprised if this year’s drinking is kicked up a notch.
