Abou Diaby to undergo West Brom medical

The 29-year-old French global has endured a nightmare time of it in recent seasons with his Gunners career ravaged by a run of bad injuries.

Any deal would be similar to Albion’s quest to sign Owen Hargreaves four years ago.

Hargreaves was a free agent at the age of 30 when Roy Hodgson and Dan Ashworth held talks with him only for the Canadian-born England global to then opt for a move to Manchester City.

The former Arsenal midfielder was released by the north London club at the end of last season after struggling to re-establish himself in the first team squad following a series of injuries.

Diaby made 180 Premier League appearances for the Gunners and scored 19 goals after joining from Auxerre.
