British actors Elba and Mark Rylance will both vie for the best supporting actor in a motion picture Golden Globe and the best actor in a limited series or TV movie. “He’s won two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes for his powerful and varied performances starring in such films as Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Castaway, Apollo 13 and Saving Private Ryan The other is Tim Allen”.
It is incredible how many people – entertainment journalists, bloggers – look down upon the Golden Globes as a poor cousin of the Oscars.

Blanchett’s chances will likely be hurt by her Carol co-star Rooney Mara, who was thought to be a supporting actress candidate but was elevated to Blanchett’s lead category.
Tichina Arnold is one of the best comedic actresses of her generation, and yet, she has never been nominated at any of the bigger award shows for her contributions. The actor will be challenging Leonardo DiCaprio for the gong, which is said to be an indicator of who will win at the Oscars in February.
Also nominated for best actor in a drama are Bryan Cranston as a blacklisted 1940s screenwriter in ‘Trumbo, ‘ Eddie Redmayne for the transgender tale ‘The Danish Girl, ‘ and Will Smith for the hard-hitting sports drama ‘Concussion’.
Lily Tomlin is also nominated for her role in GRANDMA in the Best Actress, Motion Picture Musical or Comedy category.
It is expected that Gervais would not tone down his act this time around. In the past, he has skewered everyone from Charlie Sheen and Robert Downey Jr.to Kim Kardashian.
“I like a drink as much as the next man, unless the next man is Mel Gibson”.
“Because I can see the future, I’d like to apologise now for the things I said at next week’s Golden Globes”, Gervais tweeted last week, adding: “I was drunk”. The Comedy counterpart is believed to be a win for “Veep” but the best TV actor for this category may end up being Jeffrey Tambor from “Transparent”.
