Things Are Reportedly Getting Very Heated Between Marshawn Lynch And The Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has been ruled out of the NFC wild-card game against Minnesota. Second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has improved, but the key to the Vikings’ success is star running back Adrian Peterson, who was removed from the team for most of last season while facing child abuse charges.
The rest of the Seahawks’ injury situation for this rematch – after Seattle’s 38-7 win at Minnesota last month – is more promising.
Coach Pete Carroll had said Friday morning on a Seattle radio station that Lynch “will play” for the first time since November 15 and since abdominal surgery November 25. Lynch and Thomas Rawls have been out for weeks, leaving the Seahawks with Christine Michael, who was signed on December 16. He had been practicing this week, and Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell had even said that he expected Lynch to be “full-go, full speed” on Sunday.
In eight career postseason games, Wilson has 12 touchdowns, six interceptions – four of which came in last season’s NFC title game against the Packers – and a 6-2 record, with a Super Bowl ring.
So Sunday, can No. 3-seed Minnesota validate its strong season by beating No. 6-seed Seattle in the NFC wildcard round?
Russell Wilson has made up for the loss of Lynch, ending the season with the NFL’s best passer rating. Minnesota’s defense was ravaged by injury in the first meeting but has permitted only 43 points during the three-game winning streak and allowed 18.9 points per contest.
They are also very familiar with each other as they have battled once in the regular season and it resulted in a win for Seattle.
“We got to go tomorrow, make sure [Lynch is] okay after today”.
“Carroll said Lynch appeared a little leaner than when he was with the team earlier this season and added, “He looks really good, really trim. “And I’ve, through the years, been fortunate to be in games like this where we throw the ball pretty well and have been pretty aggressive”. He’s looked really good, and we’re hoping so.
Sunday’s game will provide another chance to assess how far Michael has come.
“The thought was – instead of traveling, go all the way there, stand on the sideline in zero-degree temperatures and then fly back – you are better served having rehab and getting ready and hopefully they win and he gets back (next week)”. We’ve got to take care of our business.
