Facebook messenger app crosses 800 million users
However, over time it has now been brought to notice by leaked images that Facebook is working on a Facebook Messenger for Mac.
Mainly, it also looks like more monetization for Facebook, as more users should be using the site to chat with their friends and family, thus accessing features like the News Feed, which is one of the company’s main sources of advertising monetization. One can sport a Messenger logo as the icon in the app dock and was named Messenger in the menu bar as well.
In 2011, Facebook had started posting job listings for desktop software developers for PC and Mac, and they ultimately built the Facebook Messenger for PC. The photo above purportedly shows a pre-release version being used by a Facebook employee, but the social network won’t confirm it’s real. It’s truly the iOS application writ large, however it recommends that Facebook may will to come back to the desktop after its relatively brief, ill fated experiment with a Windows app year ago.
Marcus reiterated some of the other achievements Messenger had in 2015 such as video calling, the ability to customize conversations with colours, nicknames and emojis, and with Businesses on Messenger, the ability to send and receive money to friends right from conversations, launched Messenger Platform for expression apps, and updated the way you can choose to share your location.
With the recent success of Facebook’s messenger app, the company is reportedly making an app for Mac.
The app is believed to be an official client rather than an unofficial product. After two years of living in relative obscurity, Facebook shut down the Windows messenger app. “We’re sorry, but we can no longer support Facebook Messenger for Windows, and it will stop working on March 3, 2014”, the company wrote. It does seem, however, that an app for Mac is very likely.
