Lake effect machine about to start back up again
The lake effect snow warning firms up what forecasters were talking about all last week – we’re in for some weather over the next few days. New amounts of between a quarter-inch and a half-inch are possible this afternoon, according to the weather service.
The National Weather Service has issued an advisory from 2 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday for most of the Niagara Frontier and the Greater Rochester area.
A lake effect snow warning is set from 7 tonight until 7 p.m. Monday for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and southern Erie counties. The watch covers Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties.
Temperatures will be back to near average for much of the week with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens. A wind advisory for gusts up to 55 miles per hour is in effect throughout the eight-county region. Tree limbs will likely be blown down and travel in high-profile vehicles is expected to be hard at times.
For the immediate Rochester area, the forecast calls for snow showers through most of the week, with the high remaining in the 20s.
At least three inches of heavy, wet snow is expected.
