And the virtual reality headset is shipping in March!
The initial pre-orders for the VR headset will begin on March 20 to 20 countries.
According to the official page, the Oculus Rift is expected to ship in April. “Users can also check whether their current PC meets specs right now with the new Oculus compatibility tool”.
Because of the high system requirements for the Rift, the company is not only certifying “Oculus Ready” PCs but working with vendors to offer computer bundles that include the headset. That’s in line with the price range for a headset and PC that Oculus executives had floated previous year. For now the early adopters need to prepare to open up their wallets if they want to strap their videogames to their faces.
The Oculus Rift’s first wave of shipments will start March 28, Oculus VR revealed today.
Pre-orders are going so fast that the expected ship date for new customers is now May 2016.
All Rift pre-orders aslo include access to EVE: Valkyrie through the Founder’s Pack, which will include exclusive in-game content, founder status in Valkyrie, and much more. If you pledged enough to the Kickstarter campaign, then you should be getting a free one. Samsung launched the Gear VR, which is itself the product of an Oculus partnership, in late 2015, but its smartphone-powered experiences fall far short of what the Rift is capable of. Gamers will get a wired headset, a camera that you’ll place on a desk or wall to help track your head movements, and a Microsoft Xbox One gamepad.
The Oculus Touch, the controllers designed exclusively for VR has been delayed. Plus the two games of course.
