Warriors pound Portland for yet another win
Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson (11) drives to the basket on Portland Trail Blazers center Mason Plumlee (24) during the first half of an NBA basketball game in Portland, Ore., Friday, Jan. 8, 2016. It ultimately took a grueling pair of back-to-back games combined with some untimely injuries to hand Golden State their only two losses of the season so far. In his third game back after missing seven games with plantar fasciitis, Portland’s All-Star point guard went for a season-high 40 points (albeit on 12-for-27 shooting) and 10 assists.
Cousins returned to the game to start the fourth quarter and finished with 33 points, but the Kings couldn’t get any closer than five, which they did with 2:46 to go on a Rudy Gay tip.
There’s a good chance that Thompson and the visiting Warriors will see more of the red-hot Cousins on Saturday night than they have all season as they look to defeat the Kings for the 12th straight time.
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is adopting a soccer star’s garb and mentality as he prepares to face the Portland Trail Blazers. From Thompson’s unconscious 19-point first quarter to Curry’s no-look, flip-lob to Bogut, the win wasdecisive and fun. “They are a great basketball team now”. “He wanted to stay in the game for a bit and the trainers said he could, so we let him run it out”. And not for these astonishing Golden State Warriors. “Harrison is coming along”, interim coach Luke Walton said.
Indeed, the Warriors had just withstood an exhausting double-overtime game against the Boston Celtics less than 24 hours prior.
Can you elaborate on what-I mean, obviously they play so well together, but they just seem like what they’re doing is so effortless. On the next possession, Curry drilled another three, this one wide open in the left corner after some terrific ball movement.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Even though this was a road game, the crowd enthusiastically cheered for the visiting Golden State Warriors – a common occurrence this season.
Brandon Rush scored double-digit points for the third time in his past four games, and Andre Iguodala added 13 points off the bench. The San Antonio game holds a higher level of significance than most as the Spurs, led by MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard, hold the second-best record in the league and are seen by many observers as the biggest threat to the Warriors’ supremacy in the Western Conference. Like many Warriors opponents, they were outplayed at both ends. “That’s the key when you come into this arena especially against a talented offensive team like they are”. Clyde Drexler was the last Portland player to accomplish that feat at Memorial Coliseum in 1989.
Warriors: Head coach Steve Kerr was at the game, but watched it on TV in the locker room…. This feat would be the definitive season highlight for any other player on any other team.
Walton was asked before the game if he’d miss Sleep Train Arena.
Sharing is caring: Triple double or not, Draymond Green will continue to dish out wild assists, defend the basket and rack up points and boards.
