Packers’ Letroy Guion to appeal 3-game suspension by NFL
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, the Packers defensive tackle has filed a motion in court in an attempt to recover the property which was seized when he was arrested in February. His cash, gun and vehicle were confiscated by police.
The Green Bay Packers finally know the length of Letroy Guion’s suspension.
The Packers signed Guion to a one-year, $2.75 million contract this offseason.
The league can not comment on Guion’s suspension until the appeal process is complete, according to an NFL spokesman. In 84 regular-season games and 47 starts with the two teams, he has totaled 191 tackles, 8 1/2 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also would lose $215,625 in roster bonus over those three weeks.
The Packers defense is predicated on having a strong defensive line and if Guion’s suspension is upheld the Packers will be missing two of their starting defensive lineman for the beginning of the season.
Earlier this month, defensive end Datone Jones was suspended for the regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on September 13 for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
