UFC champion Holly Holm to fight before Ronda Rousey rematch
Of course, ever since her monumental win over Ronda Rousey late past year, everyone has been wondering when not only Holly Holm would be fighting again, but whether or not that next fight would be the rematch between her and the former champion.
According to a MMA Fighting report, many also felt that Tate was more deserving than Holm at having a title shot at UFC 193 against Rousey.
It seemed like a foregone conclusion that Ronda Rousey would get an immediate rematch against Holly Holm after their November 14 fight that saw Holm capture the UFC women’s bantamweight title with a vicious knockout of Rousey.
White didn’t announce a date or opponent for Holm, but former title contender Miesha Tate is the most logical choice. UFC co-owner, Lorenzo Fertitta quite recently announced that Rousey will return to Octagon after completing filming of her two movie projects.
White told Fox Sports 1, “You will see Ronda Rousey fight again”.
Unfortunately, White gave few details: no word on when the fight will take place, or whom Holm will fight.
But this week, Holm signed a multi-fight, multimillion-dollar contract extension with the UFC, and an official close to those talks said an interim fight for Holm was possible.
‘I don’t feel like that was my full potential.
“The Instagram was captioned: “#instabooty if #2016 keeps going like this then I’m going to be one happy happy girl! But as fans and fighters know, plans can change very quickly in the MMA world. “Every matchup’s different. It will be a whole different fight the next time around”.
Rousey joins a long, respectable line of athletes who have hosted SNL, and her appearance is a significant accomplishment.
A lucrative rematch has been widely anticipated since but it appears that will come later in the year, with Holm set to return to action against another opponent first.
