Honda Civic wins 2016 North American Car of the Year award
The 2016 Honda Civic was named North American Car of the Year early Monday as the North American International Auto Show launched into gear.
In the vehicle category, the victor was the 2016 Honda Civic, which managed to beat out strong rivals such as the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata and 2016 Chevrolet Malibu in the final round of voting. Truck finalists include the Honda Pilot and Nissan Titan XD.
The show will be open to the public January 16-24.
Inside, Volvo has included some stunning details on the vehicle’s dashboard and instrument panel, including new air blades that stand vertically on each side of the Sensus user interface.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the XC90 has won this prestigious and most respected award”, said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA, “and there is a lot more to come”.
Fifty-three automotive journalists from the United States and Canada voted for the luxury SUV for being a benchmark in its segment, based on factors including innovation, comfort, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar.
The system that featured on the XC90 tracks the vehicle in the front and controls the accelerator, brakes and steering with respect to that auto.
The 2016 Civic touts an option for a 174 horsepower turbocharged engine, while the XC90 is a seven-seater, plug-in hybrid crossover SUV. The little engine produces a surprising 316 horsepower. In November, the Chevy Camaro was been named auto of the Year in the separate Motor Trend awards, while the company’s Colorado model picked up Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year honors.
