Denver Broncos to Start Peyton Manning in 2016 Playoffs
Coach Gary Kubiak informed his quarterbacks of his QB decision and then his team Thursday morning when players returned from a three-day furlough.
Curious as the Peyton Manning retirement playoff tour begins if John Elway, the Denver Broncos and the Broncos fans have seen enough of Osweiler to believe he can be the man when the curtain falls on the 2016 season?
Manning has definitely not looked like himself this season, throwing for 2,249 yards with 9 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while completing just 59 percent of his passes.
The Broncos enter the playoffs as the top seed in the AFC and will play the lowest remaining seed of Houston, Kansas City, or Pittsburgh. However, he has been overall the better of the two quarterbacks for Denver this season. “It felt like I hadn’t played in a little bit”.
Adding to Manziel’s issues, Cavaliers forward LeBron James ended his business partnership with him Wednesday.
Manning said that his left foot is fine and he’s even refreshed after taking almost two months off. “I stand behind this team”, Osweiler said.
Manning has a chance to further prove his doubters wrong if he can continue to help the Broncos win in the playoffs. But he’s been transparent about the Broncos’ quarterback plans since Manning was pulled from a game on November 15 game. “It was a culmination of things, and at the end of the day, Coach Kubiak wanted to put Peyton in the football game, and that’s his right to do as the head coach”.
And just like on Sunday night, Kubiak reiterated, “He know’s exactly what we think of him”. The station’s source described the knee injury as “a low-grade strain” suffered when San Diego Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram struck Osweiler on his second interception of the afternoon midway through the second quarter. The Broncos defense delivered a solid, if not spectacular, performance, but Manning could never ignite the offense. Manning has taken three rides to the Super Bowl, with one victory. Osweiler had started the previous six games for the Broncos, with rookie Trevor Siemian serving as the backup. It’s hard to hear you’re not going to be the one playing…. The coach admitted earlier this week that “there’s always going to be tough decisions to make” but that he was “going to always go with what’s best for the football team”.
“As he came out of the cast, there were steps to take to getting back to work”, Kubiak said.
