Pakistan reaffirms full support to Saudi Arabia against any threat
Saudi Defence Minister Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has arrived in Islamabad, Capital TV reported.
The Deputy Crown Prince is scheduled to meet with to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan’s top military leadership during his visit.
According to sources, the Saudi Defence Minister will discuss security situation of the region.
“The people of Pakistan would always stand with the people of Saudi Arabia, against any threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom”, Sharif said.
It was agreed that the two countries would cooperate in developing an effective counter narrative to defeat the extremist mindset.
Prince Muhammad followed up on the discussions FM Jubeir had here and met Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Pakistan has expressed concern over ongoing tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran, with the Foreign Office condemning the attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran.
The army chief said that Pakistan enjoys excellent relations with Saudi Arabia, adding that safety of the Gulf States is of huge importance for Pakistan.
Saudi Defence Minister’s visit to Pakistan was the second high-level visit after kingdom’s foreign minister’s visit.
The Saudi prince appreciated the efforts of Pakistan and its armed forces in war against terrorism, and also for keeping peace and stability in the region. Defence Minister re-affirmed Kingdom’s full support to Pakistan’s position on all matters Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz received the distinguished Guest at Nur Khan Air Base.
According to reports, Defence minister will discuss Pakistan’s input in the 34-nation coalition of Islamic countries to fight terrorism led-by Saudi Arabia. Pakistan has previously agreed to become part of a Saudi-led counter-terrorism alliance.
Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Minister for Defence Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud departed on Sunday after a day-long visit to Pakistan.
