Olaf Pooley Dead — ‘Dr. Who’ Star Dies at 101
Pooley also became known as the oldest surviving “Star Trek” actor following the death of Ellen Albertini Dow on 4 May 2015. He held the distinction of being oldest-living actor for both shows.
Olaf Pooley, the veteran actor known to generations of sci-fi fans for his dual role as Professor and Director Stahlman in the classic 1970 Doctor Who adventure Inferno, has died at the age of 101. Pooley’s death was confirmed by StarTrek.com who also reveals that Pooley appeared as the Cleric in the “Star Trek: Voyager” episode “Blink of an Eye” as well as “Dr. Who”.
The actor he had roles in productions of Twelve raging Men, The Tempest and Othello.
As well as a successful film career with appearances in The Lost People, Highly unsafe, The Iron Petticoat alongside Katherine Hepburn and Bob Hope and the 1971 horror, The Corpse, he was also a regular on the stage. In later years, Pooley turned to painting and was a permanent artist in residence at the Santa Monica Art Studios in California.
He was interviewed by CBS News on the event of his 100th birthday where he advised others to ‘make up your mind what you really feel you want to do with your life … and do it!’.
