Biden Defends Bernie Sanders on Guns, Authenticity

Clinton’s lead over Sanders has slimmed to a mere three percentage points in Iowa, while Sanders’s lead in New Hampshire has tightened to four points. “That slim lead is within the poll’s 4-point margin of error”.

Weaver pointed to recent polls that show Sanders faring better with Independents and performing better in head-to-head match-ups with GOP candidates than Clinton.

Sanders has sufficiently come around on the issue of gun control, Biden said, even as the Clinton campaign continued to launch withering criticism of Sanders’ past vote allowing legal immunity for gun manufacturers whose products are involved in fatal shootings.

“He has offered major pieces of his tax plan, and he will be offering up the part that deals with individual income taxes before the Iowa caucuses”, Weaver said.

In her exchange with the Fusion moderators, Clinton mostly steered clear of Sanders. Clinton to name two times she had felt the effects of her white privilege.

Sanders explained that he believes a gun seller who legally sold a firearm should not be held accountable for someone who uses that firearm in a crime.

Sanders ended a big rally in Des Moines on Saturday evening acknowledging that when he announced his campaign on the shores of Lake Champlain, “75 or 80 percent of the people of Iowa didn’t know who Bernie Sanders was, let alone what I stood for”. Bernie Sanders is now saying, I’m the more electable candidate.

“Even if Hillary loses votes – I’ve thought this through – it’s a long way to go in the nomination”, he said, calling Sanders’ prospects of winning SC – which holds its primary after New Hampshire – “tough sledding”.
