President critical of Indiana’s ‘lax’ gun laws

More than 100 celebrities sent a letter to President Obama on Friday, expressing their support for the gun orders he issued this week to expand background checks.
But inside Dallas Market Center on Saturday, there was wide agreement on one thing: President Barack Obama’s new executive order calling for tighter restrictions on buying and selling guns is a non-starter.
CNN reports that there were nearly 20 million gun background checks performed by the first week of December 2015.
In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” Sunday, White House chief of staff Denis McDonough credited Sanders for shifting to the left on gun control. However, the results from these studies may not be on Obama’s side.
President Obama will discuss stricter gun laws at the last state of the union next week. And it is more in line with what a majority of Americans want in the wake of rising gun violence and deadly mass shootings such as in San Bernardino, Calif., and at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
But previous gun owners say they’ve noticed the increase of buyers. However, the same studies prove that this is only a small part of the battle.
“Nobody here was upset by what they heard, ” one dealer told The Commercial Appeal’s Thomas Bailey Jr., referring to an announcement by the president that he was taking the initiative, absent any action by a do-nothing Congress, to reduce the risk of deadly weapons falling into the wrong hands.
When I get those comments, emails, tweets, whatever-I sure as hell feel like want to take these people’s guns away. I do. That could mean as many as 230 examiners so the government can process background checks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Gun violence has been top of mind surrounding the dozens of recent mass shootings. I don’t get it.
These executive actions will do nothing to stop criminals from obtaining guns. A mere 21 percent of the population are completely opposed to the action on guns. But these executive actions would not have prevented numerous tragedies our communities have faced. Something all Americans should believe in!
In the refusal of Congress to act on the issue, President Barack Obama did what a leader is expected to do.
They say we are one of 11 states that requires a background check at the point of transfer.
“As a prosecutor, I haven’t seen legislation that has had a direct correlation to crimes committed with firearms”, Clark said.
Opponents of the President’s plan argue that there are now penalties in place for people who frequently sell weapons at a gun show without a federal license and for people who knowingly purchase guns for another person.
