Images Show Car Frozen From Lake Erie Waters in Buffalo
Several upstate New Yorkers awoke to quite a surprise on Monday morning, discovering their cars had been completely frozen over after strong winds hit a nearby lake.
Several inches of ice built up on one side of the auto overnight.
The combination of high winds, cold temperatures, and a still unfrozen Lake Erie spelled trouble for the owner of a vehicle parked outside Hoak’s Lakeshore restaurant on Sunday afternoon. “You could see what was once a mirror, you can see there’s a spoiler at the back”. “This is an image that’ll stick with me for years and years to come”, he added.
The image has been shared more than 7,000 times since being posted on WKBW’s Facebook page.
The station reported that despite the icy conditions, roads remained open.
The National Weather Service has issued lake-effect snow warnings for parts of southwest NY, including Buffalo, far northwest Pennsylvania and areas east of Lake Ontario into the Tug Hill of northern NY.
