Egypt hotel attack: One attacker killed, other wounded
The incident came hours after three foreign tourists were stabbed by suspected IS militants who stormed a hotel in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada on Friday.
Security forces are still combing the area for possible.
Egypt’s interior ministry on Friday released a statement saying that two perpetrators executed the attack, naming Mohammed Hassan Mohammed Mahfouz – a student born in 1994 and a resident of Giza – as one of the attackers.
An official of the Egyptian Health Ministry’s in the Red Sea province told previously that a couple from Austria and a Swedish citizen were wounded in the attack.
The tourists-two from Austria and one from Sweden-were “slightly wounded”, police said.
Nine Egyptians were sentenced in November to life in prison for their involvement in that failed attack, while two others were jailed for seven years.

Egyptian tourism minister Hisham Zaazou visited the three injured tourists and vowed to beef up security at the resort in the wake of the attack.
Security forces shot and killed one knifeman.
The attacks are the latest attempts by ISIS-affiliated militants to drive away tourism, an important source of funding for Egypt’s economy, according to BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner. “When I got up later on they were not here”, he said.
A local Islamic State affiliate in Egypt has claimed responsibility for an attack that killed two policemen in the country’s Giza province. Although no terrorist group has formally claimed responsibility for the attack, according to eyewitnesses the terrorists were carrying the black Islamic State flag bearing white writing reproducing the Islamic creed, or Shahada, and shouting “Allah hu Akbbar”.
The attack prompted Russian Federation to suspend flights to and from Egypt, while Britain restricted flights to the Sharm El Sheikh resort from where the doomed plane had departed.
“Most probably is to make propaganda that will affect the tourism in Egypt badly, and that was the main aim”.
The attackers had arrived by sea to launch the onslaught on the beachside Bella Vista Hotel, security sources said.
One of the injured was from Denmark and the other from Germany, the sources said.
