You’re All Winners — The Golden Globes
Finally, quite some time after the Golden Globe’s theme music had been playing to queue the actor off stage, DiCaprio added a few words about the First Nations people he worked with and those who are represented in The Revenant.

Twentieth also saw a win for “Joy“, with Jennifer Lawrence talking home a trophy for best actress in a motion picture, comedy or musical.
BBC drama Wolf Hall won best limited series or TV movie and producer Colin Callender was joined by stars Damian Lewis and Mark Rylance as he accepted the award and made a plea to protect BBC funding.
In the supporting actor category, Globe victor Sylvester Stallone is expected to ride a wave of popular support for “Creed”, in which he reprised his iconic role of boxer Rocky Balboa, straight to an Oscars nod. Her work in Ex Machina earned her a best supporting actress Globe nomination – one she lost to Steve Jobs’ Kate Winslet.
The Globes are given by the 83-member Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of mostly freelance journalists.
Social Media was flooded with praise for the star following his speech at the coveted awards ceremony.
“I would watch you every day”, she said. Jane Fonda (Youth), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) and Helen Mirren (Trumbo) seem just as strong, and two Oscar hopefuls in the category – Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) and Rooney Mara (Carol) – both were vying in best actress at the Globes.
Will this Golden Globe finally turn into a Best Actor Oscar for the star?
It’s widely believed that the Globes predict the Oscars, despite industry critics (including four-time host Ricky Gervais) that blast the award show’s credibility.
So while he is great in “The Revenant” and it’s a fine film, DiCaprio and the others didn’t win due to their acting.
In the television categories, newcomers prevailed in key categories as USA Network’s “Mr. Robot”, a cybersecurity expert with social anxiety, won best TV drama series while Amazon’s musical show “Mozart in the Jungle” won best TV comedy series. So did his counterpart Rachel Bloom who won best actress-comedy for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The Globes celebrate the best in motion picture and television achievements.
The 73rd Golden Globes aired on Sunday with wins for the usual suspects like Jon Hamm as well as for some Globes newcomers like Lady Gaga.
