Supergirl Just Cast Its Third Supergirl, But Not as Supergirl
Vandervoort will reportedly play Indigo, “a strong-willed, living supercomputer” who turned against the Krypton population. Now that Indigo has been unleashed on Earth, it’s going to take a lot to stop her.
The news out of the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour also included an announcement that Jeff Branson of Young and the Restless fame will have a recurring role as Master Jailer, a merciless Fort Rozz guard who seeks to recapture escapees with his own brutal sense of justice.
Rumors have been flying (no pun intended) since Supergirl started that Vandervoort would eventually land a part in the series and now it’s happened. The show has yet to fail in bringing incredibly creative villains out of the vault of Fort Rozz, and we can be sure that Laura Vandervoort will be fantastic in her new role.
Actress Laura Vandervoort attends Playboy and Gramercy Pictures’ Self/less party during Comic-Con weekend at Parq Restaurant & Nightclub on July 10, 2015 in San Diego, California.
Vandervoort is not the first former Supergirl to appear on the CBS series starring Melissa Benoist; Helen Slater has appeared in at least two episodes as Kara and Alex’s mother, and all three Supergirls will unite in an episode later this season.
Indigo is indeed a character from the comics, if you were wondering.
Branson, on the other hand, has been cast in the recurring role of Master Jailer. The 38-year-old actor will make his first appearance in episode 15.
“Supergirl”: Who is the bizarro mystery girl in “Blood Bonds”?
In the CBS Supergirl version of the story, Kara finds herself back on her original home planet of Krypton, not knowing how she got there or why she is there.
CBS’s Supergirl airs on Mondays at 8:00PM EST.
