Tempers flare after Jose Fernandez inadvertently plunks David Peralta in the head
Mat Latos allowed four hits through seven innings in his third straight strong start and the Miami Marlins snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
Fernandez’s body language, along with the fact that it was an 0-2 pitch, showed that hitting Peralta wasn’t the desired outcome. Peralta hit the ground but was able to sit up and eventually walk off the field under his own power. A.J.

Fernandez did his part to get the Marlins there, allowing three runs on five hits to win for the fifth time in 18 career road starts.
The ninth was an even better escape act by the Marlins.
“The Diamondbacks handled it the right way”, Marlins manager Dan Jennings said.

D’backs hitting coach Turner Ward said something and home plate umpire Vic Carapazza ejected him. Pollock and right-fielder Yasmany Tomas for his 16th save. “I feel, I don’t want to say like I was before, but I feel I’ve grown as a pitcher and a person”.
Miami got to work early in the second inning when J.T. Realmuto doubled to center field to score Casey McGehee and give the Marlins a 1-0 lead. Sometimes, believe it or not, a player throwing a small baseball at a tiny target might miss his spot. Initially it didn’t look good, to say the least.
Ray had been sharp over his past two starts, allowing two earned runs in 12 2/3 innings. He gave up three earned runs over seven innings with an eye popping eleven strikeouts. He turned numerous double plays, including starting one with the bases loaded in the first inning.
The following inning, Miami put two runs on the board courtesy of an Ichiro Suzuki RBI triple and a RBI single from former D-back Martin Prado.
The Marlins pitching held a 5-3 and Miami took game three to win the series and their second game in a row. He was acquired from the Chicago Cubs for catcher Miguel Montero in an offseason trade.
