Frontier Airlines To Return To The Colorado Springs Airport
Discount carrier Frontier Airlines plans to launch direct flights in from Port Columbus to Orlando, Las Vegas, Philadelphia and Denver in May and June.
Frontier last had service in Pittsburgh in 2012, with twice-daily nonstop flights to Milwaukee.
More options for business travelers and those just looking to get away.
In a separate announcement Tuesday, Allegiant Air announced two new nonstop flights from Las Vegas.
Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday morning that it is returning to the Colorado Springs Airport.
Frontier Airlines is adding daily flights from Denver to three new airports beginning in May, running counter to a recent trend at the Denver-based carrier where much of its attention has been concentrated on increasing flights in cities other than its headquarters. Business industry officials regularly report that having to change planes in Houston or Dallas to fly to major global cities is one of their main impediments to expansion and recruitment. “Our low fares enable people to travel who were forced into their vehicle or stay at home”.
Frontier was lobbied to expand its Las Vegas market by air service development leaders with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and McCarran. Passengers can take advantage of $19 one-way fares depending on the level of service chosen.
The latest announcement has Frontier adding service to four destinations it does not now serve: Colorado Springs; Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh and San Antonio. However, Frontier charges extra for checked baggage, carry-on bags, seat assignments and drinks.
